Kampala metropolitan boda-boda association and Bajaj auto limited have partnered in a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative that saw the refurbishment of Kisugu church of Uganda primary school.
The exercise that commenced in October was a result of concerted efforts from Bajaj auto limited with help from boda-boda association members. The refurbishment of the school infrastructure included painting of the interior and exterior of the class room blocks, office blocks and replacement of broken window panes.
Speaking during the official handover of the refurbished school, Mr. Pramod Lal Bajaj auto limited chief operating officer said investing in education learning initiatives is a sure way of ushering growth oriented society and ultimately g prosperous nation.
“Education is an investment and that is why we need to invest in proper infrastructure so as to provide a conducive learning environment for pupils. We believe education is the most important growth driver to social economic transformation of Uganda.” He said
Pramod added that Bajaj has always placed immemorial placed sustainable projects which benefit society over long periods as the main catalyst when identifying corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The chairman boda-boda association Mr. Kiviri Kanyike said they were happy to contribute to society through initiatives that usher in prosperity.
In addition to providing employment to thousands of Uganda youth, Bajaj has enabled riders form cooperatives that have in turn helped prosper through credit schemes.
