Alaso faces fresh heat at PAC

The storm is not yet over. Some members of the Public Accounts Committee remain unhappy with their chairperson Ms Alice Alaso.
Fresh unrest brewed after complaints that Ms Alaso treats colleagues like children. Last week, Ms Alaso overruled Bufumbira East MP Eddie Kwizera who had suggested that a meeting with officials from the Citizenship and Immigration Directorate be postponed because it had not been planned and members did not have the documents. Ms Alaso promptly reminded him that there was a committee minute to that effect and insisted that the meeting must go on as planned.
Opinion remains divided in PAC with some members backing the Serere Woman MP who seems to have taken Speaker Rebecca Kadaga’s urging for committees to get serious to heart, while others see room for improvement in her conduct of business.
