I read in the media about a team of UPDF soldiers and police deployed in Apaa village to evict residents ahead of demarcation of the boundary between Amuru and Adjumani districts.
I wonder why there is an urgent need to demarcate the boundary between Amuru District and Adjumani District. I understand that many districts in Uganda do not have stones placed along their borders. What is special with this boundary which demands that stones must be put there immediately to separate the two districts?
On the issue of evicting the people residing there after demarcation, I wonder what this means. I thought that the Uganda Constitution allows any citizen to stay in any district of their choices. Why should AmuruAdjumani case be treated differently? Does this means that Uganda Constitution is used according the circumstances? There are stories that Uganda Wildlife Authority is also claiming the same area. I would like to appeal to the Members of Parliament from Amuru and Adjumani to sit together and resolve this issue and for all. We need peace. The Acholi and Madi had been living peacefully. We shouldn’t watch as a few individuals create a new IsraelPalestinian type of living in Northern Uganda?
