60 Golfers Vie for Entebbe Open Title

Sixty golfers, including national teams from Kenya, Burundi and Rwanda, will compete for top honours in the Castle Lite Entebbe Open. The three-day event tees off today.

Uganda is fielding a three-man team, captained by Adolf Muhumuza. Ronald Otile, Happy Robert and Lawrence Muhenda are the other players on the team. Amos Kamya is their manager.

The host nation expects stiff challenge from Kenya, whose team comprises of John Karichu, Nelson Simwa and Alfred Nandwa, with Andrew Chelogoi as their manager. Burundi’s team has Jean Simba, Koudra Nahimana, Didif Nshirimana, Abdul Djbar and John Kisia (manager).

Some 150 golfers will play in the subsidiary event while 19 have entered the professionals’ category. The tournament is one of the activities organised by Entebbe club to mark 113 years of golf in the country.
